About Us
Formed in 1980, the Sevenoaks & Tonbridge Concert Band has built a reputation for its varied and interesting musical programmes, chosen both for their audience appeal and interest for our players.
Our themed concerts explore a wide repertoire, sometimes presented in collaboration with other musical groups or with a guest soloist. We are also pleased to be able to support chosen local charities through many of our performances.
As well as regular indoor concerts, we also fulfil a busy summer schedule of open-air performances on bandstands and at other venues across southeast England. Activities also include concert tours in the UK and abroad, and periodic residential music workshops. Occasional exchange visits and joint concerts are organised with our twin band in Germany, Stadtkapelle Heusenstamm.
The Concert Band generally recruits experienced ensemble players, but we welcome musicians of all ages from school students to retirees.
The Band has an extensive and constantly growing library of music, ranging from music written for wind ensemble to arrangements of orchestral pieces, light music in a wide range of styles and military band repertoire. We have also commissioned and premiered new music by the noted concert band composer Philip Sparke.
